We've had a few other customers
that had some initial difficulty, but they had not performed the following
steps after installing the drivers:
# On Windows XP with Microsoft Standard Bluetooth
software installed, you must perform the following steps in order to complete
the installation of the Integrated Bluetooth II software.
# Turn the Bluetooth power
on (turning it on differs depending on model):
a) Some models have a BT power
button towards the middle bottom of the display (some T30 models have it; and some
don’t)
b) If you do not have a power
button, try pressing Fn+F5 and enabling it with the
ThinkVantage package (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4ZLNJB).
c) If you happen to have a T30
without a switch, you may need to run this instead of Fn+F5 (you will still
have to have the ThinkVantage software installed for this to work (it may be in
several locations):
C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\PkgMgr\HOTKEY\TpFnF5.exe
C:\Program
Piles\thinkpad\connectutilities\TpFnF5.exe
C:\drivers\7AVU12WW\OSD\common\TpFnF5.exe
C:\Program
Files\Lenovo\PkgMgr\HOTKEY\TpFnF5.exe
C:\ibmtools\drivers\hotkey\osd\common\TpFnF5.exe
d) If you cannot find
TpFnF5.exe on your hard drive, you may need to install the IBM Access
Connections (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4ZLNJB). After installing that, look for the program
AcFnF5.exe. That program needs to be run
from the command line with a command line option of /BTON. So, you would need to open the command
prompt, browse to where the AcFnF5.exe is on your computer, and then run AcFnF5
/BTON.
e) If c or d didn’t do the
trick, here is another command to try:
C:\DRIVERS\WIN\BDC\Tools\BDCPWR.EXE
# Click Start, select
Control Panel.
# Click Performance and
Maintenance, then click System.
# Click the Hardware tab,
then click Device Manager.
# Double-click Bluetooth
Radios.
# Double-click Integrated
Bluetooth II.
# Click the Driver tab, then
click the Update Driver... button.
# Select Install
from a list or specific location then click Next.
# Select Don't
search. I will choose the driver to install, then
click Next.
# Select the driver without
the Digital Signed icon, and click Next.
# When
a pop-up window appears, click the Continue Anyway button.
# Click
Finish to close window.
I found a troubleshooting page on IBM's site for BT cards as
well:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-57107
Also, I found these drivers (though they don't list the T30):
http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-50245
Thanks again,
